Then this post is just for you. #social skills #speech therapyAre you working with students who would benefit from work on social skills? Today I am sharing a versatile activity that can be used in many different ways! It has been a staple of my therapy for as long as I can remember.  I love to use activities that give me a lot of bang for my buck!

You will be able to download this activity and use with your own students. Just read this blog and fill in your name in the form below, a free download of this activity will be sent to your inbox. Here is a sneak peak of the activity.

A social skill activity, you can't live without. Are you working with students who would benefit from direct instruction on social skills in a fun way? Then this post is just for you. #social skills #speech therapy

It is a category type game and it includes 12 lists. I like to use it in the following ways.

  • Use with students who are working on increasing social language skills. Print and laminate the 12 lists. Have the students read the category and name an item that belongs to that category. For example: the student reads “weather” and says “sunny.” When the student is done taking their turn, they pass the list along to another student. This allows us to work on turn taking, waiting for a turn, verbally participating in a leisure skill activity, etc…
  • Use with students as reinforcement at the end of a speech therapy session. I have used this with students in grades 3-12. Students seem to really enjoy this game and it can be a play – based activity for a job well done.
  • Use with students who are working on rapid naming tasks. You could also use this to have students name as many examples as they can for each category, if that is one of their goals.

This game has been so wonderful to use in therapy! I hope that you enjoy using it as much as I have. If you want free access to the activity, just fill out the form below and it will be sent directly to your inbox.
