I’ve been in your shoes.
When I first began working as an SLP, my autistic students challenged me the most. I didn’t know where to start, let alone how to plan productive therapy for them. And many of my students had behaviors that got in the way of their learning.
I felt totally out of my depth, and no one around me could offer much help. This was not what I’d signed up for.
Still, I was determined to make a difference for these “hard-to-help” kids. I knew they had so much to say. They just needed to find their voice.
So, for the past 20+ years, I’ve focused exclusively on autistic learners—devouring the research and developing practical, easy-to-implement tools we can all use to make meaningful progress with them.
