This is a self-paced collection of our 5 most popular AAC courses. Each course is 1 hour in length and is ASHA and ACE-approved.
The courses included are: Intro to AAC, Every Voice Counts, Motivation Matters Expanding AAC Targets beyond item requests, AAC Assessment and Building Bridges Empowering Communication Through AAC Funding.
Learning Objectives for the courses:
- Participants will be able to list 2 types of AAC.
- Participants will be able to state 1 AAC assessment.
- Participants will be able to state 2 ways to use AAC to teach their learners.
- Be able to state 2 ways in which Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) can be used for nonvocal or minimally vocal communicators
- List 3 foundational skills associated with the successful use of AAC systems including high-tech speech generating devices (SGDs)
- Define 2 tools used to assess children’s language, communication, and related skills
- State 3 components needed to build the first words in an individual’s vocabulary
- Define how knowledge of typical development can be used to select appropriate AAC targets for children with autism
- Identify methods and resources for determining learner preferences/motivators for children with autism that go beyond preferred items
- Describe strategies for using motivation to introduce AAC targets the involve different word classes, pragmatic functions, and syntax skills
- State 2 reasons to assess AAC
- State 1 AAC assessment
- Identify 2 components of feature matching
- Participants will identify and secure funding from different companies to acquire AAC devices, thereby expanding accessibility and improving communication outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
- Develop alternative funding strategies and resources to acquire AAC devices when traditional insurance coverage is unavailable, ensuring equitable access and support for individuals with communication disabilities.
- Demonstrate how to access different AAC devices, including the use of trial periods and evaluations by speech-language pathologists (SLPs).

To complete each course, view the webinar, complete the quiz. For ASHA CEUs fill out the ASHA form that pops up after you complete the quiz. For ACE CEUs fill out the ACE form that is available when you purchase the course. You will do this for each 1 hour course.
