In this talk we will outline the LEARN model that can be used when encountering professional disagreements. Specific examples will be illustrated for utilizing this model.

Course Agenda

1-5 minutes: Speaker introductions and disclosures
5-10 minutes: Overview of a decision-making model for BCBAs
assessing non-behavioral treatments

10-20 minutes: Description of the claims that comprise Gestalt
Language Processing and Natural Language Acquisition, and the
evidence for and against those individual claims
20-25 minutes: Explanation of reasons for using the LEARN model to
approach Interprofessional collaboration and conflict resolution
25-30 minutes: Discussion of the first step of the LEARN model (Listen)
and application to a case study
30-35 minutes: Discussion of the second step of the LEARN model
(Explain) and application to a case study
35-40 minutes: Discussion of the third step of the LEARN model
(Acknowledge) and application to a case study
40-45 minutes: Discussion of the fourth step of the LEARN model
(Recognize) and application to a case study
45-50 minutes: Discussion of the final step of the LEARN model
(Negotiate/Discuss) and application to a case study
50-60 minutes: Wrap-up, further resources, and questions
