Supporting Autistic Students In a School Setting

This is a self-paced collection of our 5 most popular autism in the schools courses. Each course is 1 hour in length and is ASHA-approved.

The courses included are: When behavior is a barrier, autism assessment, functional goal setting for autistic learners across the lifespan, navigating iep meetings ethically with confidence (this counts as ethics) and fun and functional group therapy for autistic learners across the lifespan.

Learning Objectives for the courses:

• After this course, participants will be able to list 3 reasons why problem behavior may occur during therapy sessions.
• After this course, participants will be able to define functional behavior assessment. 
• After this course, participants will be able to state 4 strategies to use during therapy to increase learner engagement and decrease problem behavior.
• Participants will be able to define 3 steps needed for a robust assessment for autistic learners
• Participants will be able to list 3 assessments for younger autistic learners 
• Participants will be able to list 3 assessments for older autistic learners 
• Participants will be able to state 3 ethical guidelines that should be utilized during IEP meetings. 
• Participants will be able to list 5 strategies to use when preparing for IEP meetings. 
• Participants will be able to define 3 communication strategies to use during IEP meetings.
• Participants will be able to define 5 areas to consider when goal setting.
• Participants will be able to define 3 group teaching formats
• Participants will be able to list 4 items included in a group therapy framework for younger students 
• Participants will be able to list 4 items included in a group therapy framework for older students
