Course Objectives

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Participants will be able to identify 2 ways to secure funding from companies to acquire AAC devices for clients.

Participants will be able to state 1 alternative funding strategy when traditional insurance coverage is unavailable.

Participants will be able to identify how to access different AAC devices, including the use of trial periods and evaluations by speech-language pathologists (SLPs).

Ashley Whitaker is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. She has been working in the field for 10+ years and is the Director of Speech at Lighthouse Autism Center. Ashley’s career began as a school speech-language pathologist and after 8 years in the schools, she decided to pursue her master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis to become one of few dually certified SLP/BCBAs in Indiana. Ashley is passionate about communication and establishing functional communication for her clients as well as teaching and collaborating with other professionals on how to incorporate communication teaching throughout the entire day.
