Working on literacy based activities and reading is so very important for our students! The most overwhelming thing to consider is when….. when do you have time to read with your child? I know that right before bed I feel exhausted, so I try to read with my kids way before bedtime! No matter your child’s age, reading can be an amazing part of any bedtime routine. Shared Reading

Read books together!
Make it fun!
Use a silly voice
Act out a scene from the book
Let your child take a turn

Point to the pictures in the book
Point to the words on the page
Repeat what your child says
Describe the pictures in the book

Some of my favorite books are by Todd Parr! I just love how he can take complex topics like LOVE and WORRY and turn them into beautiful books that can be enjoyed by children and parents alike! Here is a picture of me reading a Todd Parr book with all of my own kids.
