Data Collection Strategies

By Rosemarie Griffin

Taking data is so very vital to student success. According to Cooper, Heron and Heward ( 2007 ) Data can be defined as the results of measurement, usually in quantifiable form. Data collection and analysis are vital practices for special education providers.

Data not only inform teaching, but also determine effectiveness of intervention . It can be so very difficult with all of our various job tasks, to take data that is systematic and meaningful. Over my 16 years in the field and with 8 of those being both a speech language pathologist and board certified behavior analyst, I am constantly analyzing my data collection systems.

The form I have included at the bottom of this post, allows you to take data and have a visual analysis all on the same page. It was created by a fellow BCBA who does not want to be specifically named, but I do not want to take the credit for the creation of the form. She does want the form to be shared for others to use though! I do use the form and love the ease of use.

This form is perfect for anyone taking specific data on programming. It allows professionals to have a visual analysis of their data collection, which is vital for any robust program.

Just put your email below and the form will be sent your way.
